Jennifer Kokoski Obituary
Jennifer Rosemary Kokoski, a beacon of light and laughter in the lives of all who knew her, embarked on her final adventure on May 10, 2024. Born in
Baltimore, Maryland, on October 2, 1969, she managed to cram a lifetime of joy, creativity, and generosity into her 54 years, leaving behind a legacy as vibrant as her personality.
To say that Jennifer was a character is to understate the richness of her story. She developed juvenile rheumatoid arthritis as a 2 year old, but learned to not let physical disability limit her. She found her strength in her voice and mind. She could outwit her siblings, and her debates were the stuff of legend. She graduated from UMBC (BA Psychology) and learned to drive as an adult, expanding her world and helping to support family members in times of need. She was a talented web designer, technical writer, baker, chauffeur, author, photographer and seamstress and volunteered her time at church.
"Aunt Jen" was the unofficial tour guide of Disney trips, leading her family and friends on escapades through Epcot or Hollywood Studios with the precision of a general and the excitement of a child on Christmas morning. When not planning her next Disney conquest, Jen could be found traveling with her extended family, embracing the world's beauty with wide-eyed wonder and a contagious optimism that convinced even the most cynical of us that "happily ever after" wasn't just for fairy tales. She enjoyed having tea with neighbors and organizing gatherings for holidays and summer picnics. Jen was a life-long Anglofile who introduced her nieces and nephews to Doctor Who and a variety of British television shows. She also rediscovered her love of Star Wars and was not afraid to join the First Order forces and playfully give up her "Resistance" family to cast members. She also enjoyed spending time in Ocean City, chasing down the best sunrise or full moon photo-op.
Jennifer was the cherished youngest sibling of Patricia (Apichart Chalungsooth), Richard (Marcia), and Michael Kokoski, who, along with her beloved nieces and nephews-Michaela (Kyle), Matthew (Sarah), Sam, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Sean, Christopher, and Andrew-formed a family tapestry as colorful and intricate as one of her hand sewn outfits. Though her parents, Robert and Patricia Kokoski, and infant brother, Robert John II, predeceased her, the family bonds they nurtured continued to flourish under Jen's tender care.
In addition, Jennifer was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church (Clarksville, MD) since childhood. Her faith was an integral part of her life, inspiring trips to Sunday mass no matter where she happened to be traveling or how bad she felt that day.
Her absence will be felt at every family gathering, every movie event, and every stitch of thread woven through fabric. But in true Jen fashion, let's imagine her now, hopping into the TARDIS, waving with that mischievous grin, off to explore the cosmos with the Doctor, because even the universe could use a bit more sparkle. Godspeed, Jen, may your journey be as fantastic as you are, and may the love and laughter you shared here echo through the stars.
