WADESBORO - On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Jennifer Nicole O'Neal, 37, passed away peacefully at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe with her mother at her bedside.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Abee officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends Monday, March 10, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at the funeral home and other times at the home of her mother.

Nicole was born March 23, 1987 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of Paul Alan Winfree and Nancy Lynn Lett O'Neal. She attended Anson County public schools and had worked as cashier at Cato and at Whit's Convenience  Store. Most recently, she worked with Anson County Schools as a substitute teacher.

She enjoyed trips to the beach and the mountains, doing crafts, spending time with her family and friends. Going to the movies and out to eat was another favorite pastime. She was active in her community and often volunteered with Lilesville Elementary School and the Town of Lilesville for their special events.

Those who are left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Abigail Colson of Wadesboro and her father, Ricky Colson of Lilesville; her mother, Lynn O'Neal of Wadesboro; her father, Paul Winfree of Wadesboro; her brother and sister-in-law Chris and Kandice O'Neal of Wadesboro; her nieces and nephews, Allison, Alia and Alivia O'neal and Hunter and Kenneth Jordan; a special cousin, Sue Ashby of Lilesville and her children, Matthew and Emily Ashby.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Alexis O'Neal.

The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff of Hospice of Union County and the McWhorter House for loving way they cared for Nicole and to the community for the outpouring of love shown to her during her battle with cancer.
