Jenny Humphrey Obituary

Jenny Lou Banks Humphrey, born on February 14, 1935, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 2, 2025. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Jenny's life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and a heart that loved without hesitation. Services will be held at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville, officiated by her dear friend Reverend Bobby Williams, on December 8, 2025, with visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, service at 1:00 PM, followed by burial at the Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Born to Mary and Bill Banks, Jenny grew up rooted in family and faith. She later married the love of her life, JD Humphrey, with whom she shared 52 cherished years. Together they built a home defined by devotion, laughter, and unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, her sister Thelma Ferlinda, and her son-in-law Woody Trott, all of whom she now reunites with in Heaven.

Jenny was known for her no-nonsense strength, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She cared fiercely, lived faithfully, and stood firmly in her beliefs. Her family was the center of her world. Her joy came not from grand things, but from the meaningful moments that stitched her life together: crocheting blankets filled with warmth and love, listening to praise and worship, reading her daily scriptures, losing herself in search-a-word puzzles, baking her famous cakes, and visiting with dear friends especially her beloved sister-in-law Carol Humphrey and lifelong friend Doris. Jenny delighted in taking part in church activities and worship. She found deep fellowship in her Bible Study group with treasured friends such as Grace and Jeanette, where her faith continued to flourish throughout her life.

A devoted and active member of White Oak Community Church, she served faithfully in the nursery for many years, cradling generations of little ones with tenderness that left a lasting mark on countless families. Her steady, gentle, and dependable presence there was a blessing to the church community and a reflection of her servant's heart.

Jenny is survived by her four children: Deborah Parker (James), Cindy Trott (Randy), Andy Humphrey, and Greg Humphrey (Tammy); grandchildren: David, Angie (Travis), Jessica (Tommy), Jason, and Abbie (Steven); and great-grandchildren: Jacob, Isabelle, Parker, Aslan, and Isla. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ann Sharpe, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry her strength, faith, and love forward in their own lives.

Her absence leaves a quiet ache, but her memory, her laugh, her wisdom, her steadfast encouragement, and the deep love she poured into others will remain a guiding light to all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy is one of faith lived fully, service given freely, and love shared without hesitation.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Randy Williams, Regina, Visiting Angels, Liberty Hospice, and Nurse Katelyn for the compassionate care and kindness they provided during Jenny's final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to White Oak Community Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, honoring her lifelong devotion to her faith, her community, and her love of children.
