Jerald W. "Jerry" Sanders, 72, of Riverside, Ohio, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at his home. He was born in Gowanda, New York on January 8, 1953, the son of David P. and Alice M. (Austin) Sanders, of Arkwright, New York.
Jerry was a graduate of Quantico High School, Quantico, Virginia, Class of 1971, and, among other jobs, worked as a Computer Technician for Electronic Terminal Services and Bon-Ton Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in June, 2018. He was a member of the 9th Regiment New York Cavalry, associated with the North-South Skirmish Association, a Civil War competition shooting association, for 30 years. He enjoyed camping, competing in national shooting competitions with his wife and family members, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and was an Oakland Raiders football fan. Jerry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he will be missed by his family and friends.
Surviving besides his mother are his wife of 20 years, Susan (Hixson) Sanders, of Riverside, Ohio, whom he married on June 25, 2005 in Fredonia, New York. Also surviving are two children, James (Tonya) Sanders and Shannon (Scott) Beach and five siblings, James (Jamia), Suzanne, Bruce, Timothy (Veronica), and Paul (Lucia) Sanders; four grandchildren, Raven Beach, Keith (Faith) Sanders, Sarah (Anthony) Partridge, Gabriel Beach, and Abigail Sanders, and one step-grandchild, Daniel Patrick, and one great-grandchild, Jayden Sanders. In addition, surviving are two step-children, Matthew (Sonya) Hubert, and Nicole (Matthew) Walters, five step-grandchildren, Ceilidh (Zak) Loftin, Emily Hubert, Madison Hubert, Kallie Walters, and Carter Walters, and one step-great-grandchild, Callan Loftin. Many nieces and nephews survive.
He was preceded in death by his birth father, Milton Everell Crowell, father, David P. Sanders, and a brother, Brian D. Sanders.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, where the Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Justin Green officiating.
The family suggests donations be made to The Parkinson's Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, New York 10018, in Jerry's memory.
