Jerald Lee Swarthout, age 80, a longtime Center Line resident died suddenly on April 11, 2025, at Henry Ford Hospital in Warren. Jerry was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Dorman and Emogene Swarthout. Beloved husband of Sharron for 59 years. Dear father of Jerald Lee (Margarita Matous)) Swarthout II, Karen Sue (Joe) Ferro and the late Steven Edward Swarthout. Proud grandpa of Kaylyn, Colin, and Brennan Owings. He is also survived by his sisters Julia Childress, Jean (Ron) Plotzke, and was predeceased by his brothers, Joel, John, Jim, and Jay. Jerry had served in the Army 101st airborne division and was an honorably discharged veteran. A member of the Teamsters, he was a retired truck driver primarily hauling cars. His love of being outdoors had his lawn and flower garden the envy of his neighbors and passerby's. In his earlier years he enjoyed bowling, riding his Harley and a cold glass of beer. He liked watching hockey and football as well. Most of all he loved his family. Unselfishly he became a Gift of Life Donor. A memorial is planned for a later date (to be determined).
