Jeraldine J. “Jeri" Johnston Ingleton, age 93, formerly of Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, passed away on January 30, 2024. She was born in Waterloo, Iowa on February 18, 1930, a daughter of the late Donald R. "Don" and Naomi B. Fullbright Thompson. In addition to her parents, Jeri was preceded in death by her husbands, Melvin S. “Monty” Johnston and William R. "Bill" Ingleton; a daughter, Stephanie R. Johnston; a sister Jacqueline J. "Jackie" Conrad; and a great grandson Michael S. Thames, II.
Jeri was a member of Bethany Christian Church in Roanoke where she enjoyed attending many church events. Her hobbies included bowling, gardening, sewing and golf. In one year she was Lady’s Golf Champion at three different courses and was proud of her multiple holes in one.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Richard C. "Rick" Johnston and his wife Jan; her daughter, Rev. Connie Jo Latham; five grandchildren, Andria J. Thames and husband, Mike, Amelia J. "Amy" Jackson and husband, Johnathan, Jennifer J. "Jenny" Hiner and husband, Tim, James R. "Jamie" Latham, III and wife, Megan, and Carol L. Thomson and her husband, Paul; also ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of Jeri’s life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in the Chapel at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford, with Bishop Kevin McNeil officiating.
