Jeremiah Parra, 71, of Indian Land, SC, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 7, 1954, in Bogota, Colombia. He led a life of faith, family, and service.

In the early 70’s he had come to accept Jesus as his savior with the Jesus movement. He then returned to South America to then become a missionary for a season.

Jeremiah was a teacher at heart. Having become a teacher of both Spanish and English as a second language which was his passion.

In April,1999 Jeremiah began his career with US Airways, where his lifelong love of travel found a new purpose. He and his wife Renie shared countless adventures together - some simple day trips, others extended journeys – and cherished every new place they explored. After taking early retirement from the airline, Jeremiah continued sharing his gifts by teaching Spanish once again and remained deeply involved with charitable work close to his heart.

Together with Renie, Jeremiah orchestrated a missionary trip to Colombia that provided food, gifts and hope to children and families living in poverty. Many of these children had so little – some without shoes, some only eating potatoes for dinner – but through Jeremiah’s efforts, they received meals, small toys, and the joy of being remembered. The girls were given a doll and something for school, while the boys received a toy truck or car and something for school. It wasn’t extravagant, but it was given love to many children’s families. Jeremiah and Renie even traveled to Colombia to personally deliver gifts and essentials, carrying bags filled with clothes and toys. His generosity and gentle spirit left a lasting mark on the children and the communities he served.

Despite facing serious health challenges later in life, including glaucoma that eventually claimed one of his eyes, Jeremiah never lost his faith or his warmth. His joy, kindness, and unwavering belief inspired everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved spouse of 33 years Murrine B Parra (Renie), his beautiful daughter Sarah Michelle and Baltazar Almaraz and two much loved granddaughters: Nataly and Jessica Almaraz of Fort Mill, SC.

His Mother, Ines Parra of Myrtle Beach, SC. His oldest brother Gonzalo Parra-Ramirez of Spain. Two younger sisters Connie and Brendan Cuddihee of Liberty Township, OH; and Sonia Emilia and “lifelong friend” Mauricio Espinosa of Auburn, WA. Two younger brothers Giovanni (Gio) and Carol Parra of Mint Hill, NC; and Jaime Andres (Andy) and Stefanny Parra of Myrtle Beach, SC.

He also leaves behind many dear friends and countless lives he touched with his compassion, humour, and faith

Jeremiah’s life was a beautiful reflection of love in action. He taught by example – living a life of gratitude, serving others selflessly, and trusting God through every season. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Let us reflect on his name- and go to the scripture.

“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:13
