Jeremy "Shawn" Deakins

Jeremy "Shawn" Deakins, 53, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025. He was born on June 1, 1972 in Richmond, Indiana to Dianna Rector Deakins and Sam Deakins.

Although Shawn had gotten an associate's degree in electrical engineering, he worked primarily in the restaurant industry most of his life, working in many different restaurants around Lexington. He climbed the ladder to management as his career moved forward. Most recently he was working as Front of House Supervisor at the Bluegrass Airport, where his coworkers fondly nicknamed him "The Mayor."

Aside from his life partner Jenny and Packers football, Shawn's passions were definitely guitar and music. He started playing guitar at a younger and much wilder age and never put it down. He played in many local bands for many years, but ultimately found that playing guitar at home alone was where he would find peace, and his favorite audience: his family and friends.

To name only a few...family left to cherish his memory include his life partner of 22 years Jenny Stott; his mother Dianna and her life partner Mike; his father Sam Deakins and his wife Wanda and their daughter Erica; his sister Shannon Dupuy and her husband J.B.; his beloved nephew Stellen Dupuy, who had grown lovingly referring to Shawn as "Muncle Shawn"; niece Summer Dupuy and her 2 children, Nova and Lua; and his Aunt Rhonda Lewis.

Shawn loved life, family and friends!

He was a heavy influence on all of those who knew him, let alone those he knew well. He will be profoundly missed by all!

Visitation will be held Monday, August 18, 2025 from 12-2:30pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing followed by graveside at 3pm at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Nicholasville, KY.
