Larry Allen Deakins, 87 passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, after five years of battling kidney failure and bone marrow cancer. Larry was born on August 11, 1938, in Wichita, Kansas.
Larry was a devoted Christian and strong in his faith. Larry graduated from Bible College in Abilene with a Bachelors in Ministry. Larry Preached and helped churches for 27 years. He was known as a kind and gentle man.
Larry and his wife, Brenda of 28 years, taught CPR and first aid classes for ten years. He was a very gifted teacher. Larry was in a bowling league with his dad and friends, he also loved to ice skate. Larry loved deep sea fishing and spending time with his family.
Marc stated that he and his dad, Larry, took a trout fishing trip in the mountains close to the Seattle area when he was around 17 years old. They fished that day then set up camp for the night. It got very cold and started snowing a lot. At one point we couldn't stand it anymore and moved to the back of the old Ford station wagoner. It got so cold, and we only had one sleeping bag, so we had to share the same sleeping bag to stay warm. It wasn't a pleasant night. However, we got up and caught a lot of trout the next day. I especially enjoyed all the fishing, hunting, sports and ventures we had fun doing together
Larry is survived by his wife of 28 years, Brenda Deakins, Son Marc Deakins, Stepson Taylor Fazand and wife, nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Edna and father Ray, his three sisters and one brother. He was also preceded in death by his adoptive son Brian Deakins.
