I had just met Jeremy in early October, and I was looking forward to having him as a friend at school. We talked a few times about the new path he was setting out on, and about life. He seemed really happy the last time we spoke. He looked deeply into things, and I was struck by the courage in his heart. I am so very sorry he is gone, but I am thankful for having known him the brief time that I did.

I was introduced to Jeremy's enthusiastic spirit when I worked with him on a health education program for underprivileged Somali immigrant school children. After a boxing circuit class I taught for the children one week, he came up to me and asked me to give him some feedback on his form. As he threw his punches, he spoke through a giant smile about how much he loved participating in the class, how exercise was cathartic, how stepping into a pool in the early morning was a meditative experience for him, and all the things he liked to do to bring those feelings about. The genuine excitement on his face in that moment has always stayed with me, reminding me to look for balance and joy in my own life, and this is exactly how I will remember him.
Jeremy was also one of the brightest students in our class, and the generosity of his spirit was evident, as he always made sure to share the gift of his seemingly unending knowledge by helping struggling classmates with review sessions he held of his own accord.
Jeremy had so much to offer this world, and his unreserved enthusiasm and intelligence will be missed by our class. I send my deepest condolences for your loss and pray your family might find healing and comfort in the enduring impact Jeremy has had on those he has touched during his life.

We are truly saddened by the news of Jeremy's passing. We remember him fondly and, as we write what so many feel, we can only express the awe that all felt in knowing him. Jeremy epitomized a life of loving, caring, and pride--not just on a rare occasion, but in the day-to-day blending of hard work, pride and dedication in his accomplishments. He shone every day and is gone too soon but, his bright, welcoming smile and his spirit will stay with us forever. He was truly an example to all and is more than deserving of our awe, our gratitude and our prayers. May he rest in peace.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to your entire family at this difficult time.

I had the privilege of being the student interviewer who intereviewed Jeremy for admission to medical school at Ohio State almost 2 years ago. After more than 30 interviews I still remember Jeremy. I remember the enthusiasm and energy that he brought to the interview and I remember being impressed with his poise, maturity, good nature, and kind heart. I'm sorry to say that I didn't keep in touch with him once he arrived at OSU but I can tell you that I know the medical community has lost a wonderful future physician and our community mourns with you. I'm so sorry for your loss and I pray that your family is able to find peace and comfort during this difficult time. With my deepest condolences,
