Jeremy Hughes Obituary

Published by Windmill Ridge Funeral Service on Mar. 19, 2013.
Jeremy Ray Hughes, 35, of Shelbina died at his home surrounded by his family on March 19, 2013. He was born on October 16, 1977 at Chillicothe, Missouri and could fit in a size 8 woman's shoe box. He grew to be 6'2" and 320 lbs of muscles and tattoos. He was raised by a combination of his parents Ray and Dee Jennings, his mother June Ann Brandstetter (Donnie) of Trenton, MO and his Aunt Robin Smith of Utica. In high school, Jeremy enjoyed football and getting into trouble like young boys often do. Although he never graduated he could wiz through college math problems and beat anyone at Risk or Chess without breaking a sweat. Later in life Jeremy had a passion for the outdoors; carpentry; scraping; redesigning automobiles; house remodeling and simply working with his hands. Jeremy loved to hunt, fish, go to Tractor pulls and Truck Shows. The one thing Jeremy looked forward to was the Family Campout on Labor Day Weekend, spending time with the family. Jeremy was the proud father of two sons who he loved dearly and he wished that he could have had more time to spend with them. Family and friends were important to Jeremy and he enjoyed spending time with them. Jeremy was a truly amazing friend and was beloved by all that truly knew him. Overall Jeremy was a compassionate person. He would help anyone who needed him. He is survived by his parents Ray and Dee Jennings, mother June Ann Brandstetter (Donnie); Grandmothers Erma Jennings, Mildred Hughes, Charlotte Sturgeon and Beverly Fields; sons Trenton Lindsay of Jefferson City and Ezra Hughes of Windom, MN; sisters Jessica Fountain of Shelbina, Ashley Jennings of Paris and Amber Lahs of Mankato, MN; brothers David Jennings of Mankato, MN, Waylon Jennings of Carrollton, Justin Fountain of Shelbina and Jesse Brandstetter of Trenton; the love of his life Emily Hinton, nieces Whitney and Sierra Fountain and Kylie Fugate; nephews Landenn Lahs, Xander and Glendyn Jennings, Austin and Ethan Fountain; friends Shawn Dollens (Cindy), Kathy Dollens, Mike Fountain, Chad Anderson, Brandon Reams, Frank and Michelle Iloff; many, many Aunts, Uncles, other friends. Jeremy was very close to his Uncle Roger and Aunt Debbie Jennings, Uncle Russell and Aunt Betsy Minnis, Uncle Albert and Aunt Christine Pilkington and Aunt Robin and Uncle Jack Smith. There are also many cousins that Jeremy was very close to that survive him. When he wasn't working on a project, Jeremy spent time wrestling with his nieces and nephews; to them he was "Uncle Bob" and chewing the fat with family and friends. Those who knew him best will always remember his unique sense of humor and love for a good laugh. Jeremy was a fighter, but regardless how valiantly he fought, he lost his battle against cancer. He never fought his battle alone and his family continues to fight his battle with remembrance and love.
