Jeris Jeffrey Alan Cozzi, age 42 of Duluth died unexpectedly while on vacation in the Caribbean, on January 18, 2026. He was born in Duluth on September 13, 1983 to parents, Jeffrey “Flash” and Cindy (Olson) Cozzi. He lived life with an unmistakable spark that drew people in and stayed with them long after. His early years shaped him, but it was through service to his country that he found direction, purpose, and pride.
He served in the United States Navy aboard an aircraft carrier, working on jet aircrafts and forming lifelong friendships across the country. A proud veteran, he remained active in the VFW and the Combat Veterans Association, carrying his service close to his heart.
After his military service, he attended Lake Superior College where he learned how to fly helicopters. His career as a crop duster perfectly matched his skill, courage, and love of freedom.
He loved motorcycles and the community that came with them. The friends he met along the way became like family. He was a light in many lives—warm, generous, and magnetic. People naturally gravitated toward him, and he would give the shirt off his back without a second thought.
His zest for life, loyalty, and kindness will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Jeris is preceded in death by his mother, Cindy. He is survived by his father, Flash; many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
A Visitation will be held at Dougherty Funeral Home from 4-7pm on Friday, February 6th. A Funeral Service will be held in the Spring of 2026.
600 E. Second Street, Duluth, MN 55805
