Mary Ellen Semerau

Mary Ellen Semerau, age 86, of Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Edgewood Vista in Hermantown, MN.

Mary was born on December 24, 1939, in Holyoke, MN, the daughter of the late Arnold and Myrtella (Lindberg) Semerau. She was raised on the family farm in Holyoke and graduated from Wrenshall High School. She worked as a housekeeper in Duluth, MN, for most of her career and also took care of her parents when they got older until their passing. In her free time, she loved to bake, garden, and take care of her flowers, her Bunny Easter cakes will be greatly missed. She adored all of her nieces and nephews and enjoyed taking family vacations with them all over the United States. Finally, she was a faithful and longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Duluth, MN.

Mary is survived by her brother, Gerald (Marcia D.) Semerau; nieces, Heidi (Mike Lundgren) Baublitz and Denise Bergman; and sister-in-law, Marcia K. Semerau; as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews; . She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Philip Semerau; and nephew, Ronald Semerau.

Funeral Service for Mary will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church 9503 Grand Ave, Duluth, MN. Interment will take place in Holyoke, MN, in the summer of 2026.
