Theodore "Teddy" Semerau Jr., 82, of Taylorville, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL and Schiller Park, IL, passed away February 19, 2024.
Teddy is survived by his daughter, Carole (Greg) Jindrich of Kirkland, IL; a son, Michael (Wendy) Semerau of Taylorville, IL; and four grandsons, Alex, Jacob, Aaron, and Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Delores Castle.
Teddy was a Navy Veteran serving US Navy BT2, USS Saratoga, USS Hazelwood, and USS John Willis. He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a recipient of a ceremony known as a Shellback. His name can be found on the Veterans Wall in Schiller Park. Later in life, he worked for Chicago Tribune many years retiring as Chief Boiler Room Engineer.
The family will receive family and friends at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024. The funeral service will immediately follow. Military rites will be accorded at Linwood Cemetery in Pana, IL.
Donations in memory of Teddy may be made to the American Legion Post 73, 110 West Franklin Street, Taylorville, IL. 62568
