Jerome King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by House of Law, Inc. Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Penn Hills on Aug. 9, 2022.
Jerome King was born on July 26, 1961 to the late Houston Ivey King, Jr and Gwendolyn (Talton) King in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He peacefully departed this life on August 8, 2022. He was reared in Homewood-Brushton and educated in the Pittsburgh Public School system where he graduated from Westinghouse High School. Shortly after graduation, he began his career in custodial services. Jerome had a strong work ethic and was known as a hardworking, dedicated employee. He was first employed by the Salvation Army in Homewood-Brushton, where he worked as a Custodian for over 20 years. He would go on to work for the Wilkinsburg School District as a Custodian, where he retired in 2018 after 25 years of service. Known by many as Kirby, Jerome was a kind, loving and gentle soul. He was a humble and faithful man who loved the Lord. He was a member of Gethsemane Ministries of Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania for many years. Jerome's faith was an essential part of his life. He was truly an ambassador for Jesus Christ, spreading the Gospel wherever he went, calling the lost to the crucified and risen Savior for salvation. No matter what the family gathering (whether it be a picnic, wedding or funeral), Jerome was always equipped with gospel tracts/cards and the Our Daily Bread devotions which he openly distributed, not only to family, but to anyone he encountered daily in his mission to save souls for Christ. Jerome was an avid sports fan. He especially loved all Pittsburgh sports teams and would often be seen wearing a Steelers, Pirates, Panthers or Penguins sweatshirt. Jerome will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Amir Muhammad. He leaves to remember him, brother John King (Yvette), sister Charlotte King, nephew John King, Jr., nieces Assata Muhammad, Malika King and Ashanti Grisham, and great nephew, Stephon Eric Jones-Page, Jr. in addition to a host of other friends and family.
