South Bend - Jerome J. Lupa, 87, of South Bend, passed away on Monday November 3, 2014, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. He was born on February 21, 1927, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Selma (Andrysiak) Lupa and was a lifelong area resident. On June 12, 1948 he married Bernadine Zbrzezny, who preceded him in death on February 27, 2003. Jerome is survived by his sons, Jerome J. (Joan) Lupa, Jr. of South Bend, Michael J. (Beverly) Lupa of Granger and James R. (Cara) Lupa of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, Jennifer Lupa, Michele Smith, Eric Lupa, James Lupa II, Timothy Lupa and Jeffrey Lupa; seven great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Lucile (Lawrence) Louderback of Lake Worth, FL. Mr. Lupa worked for Associates for 25 years before retiring in February 1989. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where he volunteered as a Sacristan and a volunteer at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 am Friday November 7, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 pm Friday November 7, 2014, in Holy Cross Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, where military honors will be performed by the American Legion Post #284. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
