Celebrating the Home Going of Jerome Curtis McLaurin, also known as (Jerry and Mac). He was called home at the age of 73, peacefully, in Columbia S.C. He was
born to Mary Helen and the late Henry E. McLaurin on March 3, 1952 at DC General Hospital and raised in Kenilworth Parkside in Washington D.C. He leaves to cherish his 95-year young mother Mary H Stratton, his brothers, Walter McLaurin Sr., Roy Owens (Betty) and one sister JoAnn McLaurin-Nicholson (Maurice), and one brother Michael A. McLaurin (no longer with us). He also leaves behind 9 nieces, 14 nephews, 3 great nephews, 1 great niece and 1 great-great nephew, many cousins and a host of other family and friends. Additionally, a special friend, Gloria and three best-brother friends, Goodwin, James and Paul (who were more brothers than friends). Jerry got baptized at an early age and joined First Baptist Church of Deadwood. For the last five years, he has been watching Church Service with Second Baptist Church S.W. online and enjoyed the services as his faith got stronger in the LORD. Jerry attended DC public schools and graduated from Phelps Vocational High
School in 1971 where he studied Carpentry. He worked for the Department of Recreation where he used his skills as a carpenter for 12 years. After, he made a career as a Postman for 38 years, before retiring. He met Donna, the love of his life, in 1995 and they married in 2001. They remained married until her death in December 2019. They enjoyed traveling and just having fun with each other. They had no children of their own but, cared for their nieces and nephews often. Jerry loved to bowl and participated in a bowling league for many years, often receiving "Bowler of the Week". He loved the Washington Commanders but insisted they would always be called the REDSKINS. To him they were the best team ever, even though they lost many games. He loved spending quality time with family and friends as well as having fun and making jokes. He was one of the easiest persons in this world to get along with; very kind, friendly, always wanting to help anyone at any time. He had a heart of PURE-GOLD.
