Jerome Mieska

Jerome "Jerry" Mieska, 70, of Bevent, WI, died June 15, 2025, in Story City, IA, doing what he loved, "Drivin' Truck". He passed peacefully in his sleep.

Jerry was born May 8, 1955, in Wausau, WI, to the late Frank and Pauline (Disher) Mieska. Jerry graduated from Rosholt High School in 1973. In 1992, Jerry was united in marriage to Lori Omernik in Las Vegas. They had two sons, Robert and Jesse. They later divorced but continued spending time together as a family.

Jerry started working at the age of 13, doing chores for local farmers and working at Easy Meats Processing. He also worked at Marathon Electric. He started his Trucking career as an owner-operator at the age of 23. He also had a lumber planning business. Jerry was a Trucker for 47 years, putting on millions of miles throughout the Midwest, but did venture out east and west from time to time. He loved the trucking life and was very good at it.

Jerry leased on as owner-operator with numerous companies before he leased on with WH Transportation of Wausau in 1983. He drove for WH for 25 years, until they closed their van division. He then leased on with Road Ready Transfer Service of Wausau in 2008, where he settled in for the past 17 years. He hung up his hat in 2015 as an owner-operator at the age of 60. He then started driving a company truck with Road Ready. He truly enjoyed his employment and partnership with Road Ready Transfer Service.

Jerry is survived by his sons, Robert and Jesse Mieska; former wife, Lori Mieska; mother-in-law, Grace Omernik; brothers, Tom (Sharon) Mieska, John (Anne) Mieska, Dennis (Julie) Mieska; and sister, Susan Richter; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Mieska in infancy; brother-in-law, Randall Richter; and father-in-law, Bernard Omernik.

Jerry was an easy-going, matter of fact man. He was a great storyteller and everyone that knew him enjoyed his boundless sense of humor. His quick wit and happy-go-lucky banter were cherished by all. He told it like it was and most times had an entertaining way of telling us. He was a hard worker, a handy man, and a lot of fun.

Jerry was a good man and will be dearly missed by all.
