Ronald "Ronnie" Michelkamp, 78, from Custer, passed away on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital after a long battle with heart disease.
Ron was a graduate of Rosholt High School. He went on to serve four years in the US Air Force, including two tours of duty in Vietnam, in the Red Horse unit attaining rank of Staff Sgt. He then returned home, working for thirty years in construction, primarily at Consolidated Papers, while also operating the family farm. In 1999, he decided to focus solely on raising cattle and cash crops with his daughter, Amy.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sherry, daughters Amy Michelkamp of Custer and Sara (JD) Campbell of Norwalk, IA; granddaughters Cassie Fletcher and Maleah Campbell; siblings Judy (Ken) Kazmierczak of Plymouth, WI, Rosemary Sjolsvold of Minnetonka, MN, Elsie (Chet) Bembenek of Wausau, a sister-in-law Betty (Scott) Oleson of Delafield, and extended family and close friends, Bill (Kim) Gibbs and Joe (Jennifer) Jakubek.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Helen Michelkamp, brother Peter, sister Loretta Harrer, and brothers-in-law Robert Harrer and Jerry Sjolsvold.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
There will be a private family gathering at a later date.
