Alice Mae Wierzba, formerly of Rosholt, passed away on March 21, 2025 at Willow Brooke Point Assisted Living Facility in Stevens Point. She was 78 years old.
Alice was born on July 2, 1946, to Johanna and Ambrose Kozikowski. She graduated from Rosholt High School in 1964. After graduation, Alice married Henry Wierzba on April 24, 1965. Hank passed away on November 17, 2023. Together the couple settled in the Rosholt area and raised their three daughters, Rebecca, Roxanne and Sara.
Alice was always a hard worker, often holding more than one job at a time. Some of the positions she held throughout her life included working at Gene's IGA of Rosholt, being the accounting manager for Dobbe Motors, the Village of Rosholt Clerk, bartending, a rural route postal delivery person for the Rosholt Post Office, the Town of Sharon Clerk and she was the accounting manager for the Rosholt School District for 17 years. Even though she never received a formal degree, Alice earned recognition regarding her work with bookkeeping, including receiving several awards for maintaining "perfect books" for Dobbe Motors. One award was an all-expense paid trip to New Orleans, which was one of the few times she and Hank traveled together. Each of her jobs brought her a close circle of friends who she treasured throughout her life.
Alice enjoyed playing cards, reading, playing guitar and singing with family and friends, listening to old country and hosting parties. The Wierzba house was always extravagantly decorated for every holiday, especially Christmas. In her younger years Alice enjoyed golfing and shooting pool competitively, which is a trait she passed on to her 2 older daughters and her grandchildren. She loved her "Casino Trips" with her sisters and her close friends. Their "Up North Girls' Weekend Trips" were something she always looked forward to.
Alice is survived by her three daughters: Rebecca (David) Lepak, Roxanne (Curtis "Corky") Filtz and Sara (Kurt) Basinski. She has 5 grandchildren: Scott (Andrea) Bembenek, Cassie (Dan) Borski, Clayton Filtz, Zachary Lepak and Alex Basinski. She also has 5 great-grandchildren: Elenie, Mavrie and Boone Borski, and Alina and Klaira Bembenek.
Alice is further survived by her siblings Agnes Milanowski, Gladys Kluck and Norbert (Judy) Kozikowski; her in-laws Bill, Larry, Don (Arlene), Jack (Marilyn) and Mike Wierzba; Delores Wrycza, Darlene (Bill) Phillip and Gail (Rocky) Wierzba.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Henry, her parents, Ambrose and Johanna Kozikowski, her in-laws, Steve and Lucy Wierzba, her step-father Alex Glodowski, her siblings, Eugene Wroblewski, Leona Loberg, Rita, Delores and Rose Ann Wroblewski, and Mary Jane Pezewski. In-laws: Norman Loberg, Joe Pezewski, Leroy Milanowski, Larry Kluck, Robert and Charlotte Wierzba, Albert Wierzba and Peter Wrycza.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Alice will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church- 7375 Church St. Custer. Father Mark Miller will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 until the time of the mass.
Alice's daughters are very thankful for Moments Hospice who lovingly cared for Mom and for them throughout this process – especially Alane, Jackie, Krissi, and Barbie. Thank you to those nurses and nurse aids who were kind to Alice during her stay at Willow Brooke. Also thank you to Aunt Gladys, Aunt Chris, Nancy and Kim who visited mom so often during her illness. Your friendship to mom (and us) means so much!

My condolences to the family. I had some great memories with my Aunt Alice. She was a second mother to me. She was not only my aunt, she also was my Godmother. I loved her very much! I will miss her.
