Charlotte "Char" Wierzba, of Rosholt, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at Portage County Healthcare Center in Stevens Point, at the age of 87.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church - 3315 St. Adalberts Rd., Rosholt, WI. Rev. Francis Dias will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at St. Adalbert's Parish Cemetery.
Char was born June 27, 1937, in Rosholt, WI; daughter of the late Victor and Stella (Suchon) Witkowski. Char was the youngest of 5 children. She grew up in the Rosholt area and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1955.
Following high school, Char married Robert "Bob" Wierzba on September 29, 1956. The two lived in Milwaukee for a short time. In 1960 they returned to Rosholt and built a home on Collins Lake. In 1974, Bob sadly passed away, leaving Char and their 5 children behind. Char worked hard to continue supporting their family. She worked several jobs which included Circo Manufacturing, Joerns Furniture, and Rosholt IGA. Upon retiring, Char was working for St. Michael's Hospital.
Char had a love for the outdoors and all its creatures. She loved animals, especially foxes; at one time, she even had one as a pet. Whenever her children brought little orphaned animals home, Char just couldn't turn them away. She would welcome the precious critters and care for them as best she could. She also enjoyed the outdoors through gardening and fishing. Char was also proud to volunteer at the church whenever she could. She also enjoyed shooting pool when out with friends. Above all else, Char's family was her greatest joy; her door was always open for her children.
Char is survived by her children, Renee (Ron) Szalewski of Rosholt, Kathy (Mark) Kunkel of Stratford, Robert Jr. (Jennie) Wierzba of Rosholt, Tim Wierzba of Sturgeon Bay, and Wesley Wierzba of Stevens Point; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by an older brother, Marion Witkowski of Almond; and an older sister, Theresa Arnsdorff of Milwaukee.
Char was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob; her parents, Victor and Stella; and her sisters, Emily Brill and Wini Koziczkowski.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Portage County Healthcare Center for the wonderful care provided to Char for the past 6 years. The staff and residents truly made it feel like home.
Shuda Funeral Chapel is honored to be assisting the family.

I knew Char at St Michael's hospital. She was such an amazing worker and always had a smile on her face. A few years ago I saw her at Portage County Home when I was able to give her Holy Communion. She just lit up when we saw each other. Her faith was so important to her. She worked so hard on this earth. She was so excited to share all her Beany Babies and tell me all about her kids, grandkids and great grands. She was a very special woman and I will always hold her in my heart. My deepest sympathy to all of you who grieve her death. I can see her smile and feel her enthusiasm for life and love of her family. She made the world a better place!
