Matthias Rudnick Obituary

Matthias Paul Rudnick, of Plover, passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2025, at the age of 22.

Matthias was born January 7, 2003, in Stevens Point, WI; son of Paul and Jennifer (King) Rudnick. He grew up in the area where he attended St. Paul Lutheran and Roosevelt Elementary schools, Ben Franklin Jr. High, and Stevens Point Area High School (SPASH). Matthias led an active childhood, participating in football, track and field, choir, jazz band and drama. He performed in school plays over the years and was awarded a leading role in the school musical, Mamma Mia. He also worked hard to earn his black belt at Catura's Martial Arts. Matthias was a proud member of SPASH's Class of 2021. Outside of school, Matthias prioritized his faith. He was very active in both the St. Paul Lutheran and Woodlands youth groups, ushered at St. Paul Lutheran, and performed in the praise band.

Following high school, he studied communication and film at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. While he loved making films and videos, he most enjoyed helping others see their visions come to life on the screen. Matthias loved being a Golden Gopher, but also took advantage of an opportunity to study abroad in London. In May of 2025, Matthias graduated with honors, and immediately began establishing a career in film and cinematography in Minneapolis, MN.

Matthias enjoyed listening to and playing music, spending time with friends and family, as well as traveling and exploring. He was active in the community as a member of the 911 Memorial Restoration Group (2017) and as a board member of Skyward, Inc. in Stevens Point, WI. Above all else, Matthias always had a smile and hug for everyone. His independent, adventurous nature was magnetizing. He truly was a light in this world.

Matthias is survived by his parents, Paul and Jennifer Rudnick of Plover; his sister, Katie (Josh) Ferguson of Stevens Point; his brother, Nathaniel (Kat) Rudnick of Stevens Point; and his maternal grandparents, Jim and Jean King of Plover. He is further survived by his aunt, Julie (Gerard St. Hilaire) King of Custer; his uncles, Jerry (Abby) King of Plover and Don (Cheryl) Rudnick of Milwaukee; and 4 cousins.

Matthias was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Martin and Bernice Rudnick of Milwaukee, WI.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran - 1919 Wyatt Avenue, Stevens Point. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the church and again on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

The family will host a Celebration of Life that will take place after the burial on Saturday, from 3-9 PM, September 6, 2025, at Oso's Brewery in Plover, WI.

Shuda Funeral Chapel is honored to be assisting the family.
