He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William H. and Beatrice M. Simms, and his paternal grandparents LeRoy Coleman, Sr. and Margaret (Henry) Stoutmire; aunts Patricia Coleman and Angelina Mallory, uncles Jerome Coleman and Robert L. Simms, Sr. and cousins Kendrick, and Anthony, Coleman.
He is survived by his parents, Darlene Beatrice Simms and LeRoy Coleman, Jr., his son Jerome Dewayne Simms, Jr. (Skillet); two special girls, D'Mya and Reoshanae Anderson; one sister, Charmainia (Marcus) Johnson; three nephews, Paul Russell, Merl Johnson, and Jaxson Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
