Jerome P. Skowvron

Jerome P. Skowvron, 81, formerly of Washington, passed away peacefully Friday, October 31, 2025, in Concordia of Bridgeville, Memory Care Unit. Born March 16, 1944, in Canonsburg, he was a son of the late Peter and Anna Chuba Skowvron. He was a 1962 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School. Following high school, he started working for Englehardt and Power, presently Widmer Engineering, as a surveyor and draftsman, retiring in 2009. In 1968, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served with the 630th Transport Unit in Vietnam. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Houston. Jerry enjoyed playing dart ball and for many years played on the church dart ball team. Other enjoyments included fishing, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and high school wrestling. Surviving are a daughter, Sherri Houpt and husband Mark of Canonsburg; his four grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Jillian and Jase Houpt; two sisters, Becky McConnell of Houston, and Kandy Veres (Bob) of Houston; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, in the McIlvaine- Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner / supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, November 6. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, where full military rites will be accorded by the Honor Guard from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #191 in Canonsburg.
