Jerry Joe Adame, affectionately known to all as Cowboy Jerry, rode off into the sunset on November 23, 2024, in
San Antonio, Texas, after a spirited showdown with cancer. Born on October 9, 1966, in Plainview, Texas, he spent his life lighting up the world with his humor and charm. With the stage presence of a true performer and the heart of a compassionate friend, Jerry's journey was one of laughter, love, and a touch of electric sparkle.Cowboy Jerry didn't just walk into a room; he made an entrance that could rival any grand theatrical production. He was the funny, friendly, and spirited soul who could sing his way into anyone's heart. Jerry's performances weren't just a hobby; they were legendary displays where he, the star of the show, would ensure that everyone was having as good a time as he was.Behind the scenes of his one-man shows, Jerry was a jack-of-all-trades, mastering the art of being an electrician while juggling life's various roles. He was the beloved life partner of Linda Pena, father to Andy Leal, Mariah Kellie Adame, Christian Kayla Adame, and Ariel Emily Sams, extended children Omar Daniel Pena,Alyssa Simon
and the grandest of grandpas to Ethan Cole Cunningham, Hunter Lamar Sams, Isabella Ann Rieger, and Fischer Joe Sams, Daniel Pena,Juliana Pena,Jayden Simon, Jordan Simon,Jacob Simon.Jerry's love and humor extended to his siblings, Dennis Adame, Tammy Lynn Rodriguez, Gilbert Mata Jr., Michelle Mata Deleon, and Ben Mata. He was preceded in passing by his brothers Daniel Adame and Timoteo Adame III, and his parents, Ernestina Moreno Mata and Timoteo Adame II, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms and a chuckle at the pearly gates. As a high school graduate, Jerry learned early on that the school of life was where he'd excel, using his wit and hands to light up the world, quite literally, as an electrician. His work was much more than just a job; it was a stage where he connected with colleagues and left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.Cowboy Jerry's interests were as expansive as his personality. He lived for the moments when he could belt out a tune, strum a guitar, and share a joke. To quote the legendary Bob Hope, "I've always been in the right place and time. Of course, I steered myself there." Jerry indeed steered himself into the hearts of everyone he met, leaving a trail of smiles and chuckles wherever he went. When it came to describing Jerry, words like 'funny', 'friendly', and 'spirited' only scratched the surface. He was a man who could find the humor in any situation and turn a day around with his infectious laughter. His spirit was as untamed as the Wild West he so adored, and his friendship was as warm as a Texas summer night.Jerry's legacy is not simply in the stories he told or the songs he sang but in the way he made each person feel like the most important audience member. He was a man who knew that life wasn't about taking yourself too seriously but about finding joy in the ride.Cowboy Jerry's final curtain call may have come, but the show of his life will continue to play on in the memories of his family, friends, and all those lucky enough to have witnessed Cowboy Jerry perform. Whether he was on an actual stage or the stage of life, Jerry was always the star, and we, his adoring fans, are grateful for the time we spent in his spotlight. So tip your hats and raise a glass to Jerry Joe Adame, the man who taught us that the best way to live is with a song in your heart, a joke on your lips, and a whole lot of electric love. Cowboy Jerry, you will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
