In Loving Memory of Jerry Berkin, a Cherished Husband, Beloved Father, and Adored Grandpa
October 29, 1929 – February 19, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Jerry Berkin, who left us peacefully on February 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 94 years old.
A devoted husband, Jerry shared an unwavering love with his wife, Myrna, for 68 years. Myrna and Jerry lived in Fair Lawn for 58 years and were regulars at Memorial Pool and Temple Beth Shalom. Jerry Berkin worked for 35 years at Bendix (now Honeywell) in Teterboro, NJ. After retirement they spent their winters in Kings Point in Del Ray Florida. Their bond was a testament to the enduring power of love.
Jerry is also survived by his two children Debbie Kaufman who is married to Alex and Allan Berkin who is married to Laura. Both were raised in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Jerry was a very patient father, kindhearted, and always wanted everyone to get along. He was always very supportive for their activities and then the grandchildren's activities, birthdays, graduations, and weddings.
To his four grandchildren Lea, Michael, Jer and Seth. Jerry was affectionately known as Grandpa; He delighted in their laughter, celebrated their achievements, and offered unwavering encouragement in their pursuits. His warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on their hearts, and his legacy will live on through the love he shared with each of them.
Jerry will be fondly remembered for his gentle spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering devotion to his family. He will always be remembered as the neighborhood handyman and a great chess player. His presence brought joy to all who knew him, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled. In addition to his loving family, Jerry leaves behind a host of friends and relatives who will miss him dearly. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all.
Rest in peace, dear Jerry. You will forever remain in our hearts, and your love will continue to guide us through the journey of life.
With love and remembrance,
The Family of Berkin's and Kaufman's
