HARTFORD – Jerry M. Bevil, 76, of Hartford passed away March 13th, 2026 at Ohio County Hospital. He was born May 1st, 1949 in Owensboro to the late Earl and Kathleen Bevil.
Jerry was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and member of the Gideon’s. He was an avid golfer and UK basketball enthusiast. He always said a bad day golfing is better than a good day working. When he wasn’t working or golfing, traveling with his wife, Judy, was what he wanted to be doing. He and his twin brother, Larry, owned and operated Bevil Bros. Funeral Home for 40 years. His care, compassion and wisdom during families’ darkest times was a blessing to the community. He also served as Ohio County Coroner when Larry retired. He was a substitute bus driver for Ohio County Schools when his daughter enlisted his help. This was something he enjoyed very much. Jerry loved his family and was so excited to watch the great-grandchildren come into the world.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Judy Tichenor Bevil; daughters, Kara (Jason) Bullock and Whitney (Chris) Geary; grandchildren; Cole Bullock, Addison Bullock, Colin Bullock, Jaxon (Brooklyn) Lindsey, Griffin (Shelby) Geary, Audrina (Cody) Tinsley; great-grandchildren, Eleanor Lindsey, Jax Lindsey, Wrigley Allen, Emma Tinsley, Lennix Tinsley and Ealand Tinsley; twin brother, Larry (Kathy) Bevil and David (Jackie) Bevil; sister, Diana Kay Sanderfur; along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Sunday, March 15th, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bros. Josh Fulkerson, David Bullock and Dennis Cook presiding. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideons. Online messages of condolence may be sent to bevilbrosfuneralhomes.com.
