JONESBORO - Jerry Lavon Bobbitt Sr., 90, of Jonesboro, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born in Greene County to the late John M. and Mazie Singleton Bobbitt on August 4, 1933. He married Millie Delores Meadows on Feb. 27, 1954, in Hernando, Miss.
Jerry spent much of his life in the Cash and Jonesboro areas. He was a farmer, farming first in Cash then later in the Walnut Ridge area until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Delores Bobbitt, a brother, John Wayne Bobbitt, and a sister, Phyllis June Spears.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Austin (Bruce Gist) of Jonesboro; a son, Jerry Bobbitt Jr. (Sherry), of Bay; three grandchildren, Ashley Ginn (Brian) of Jonesboro, Kelli Merryman (Drew) of Jonesboro, and Jonathan Bobbitt (Ashley) of Bay; eight great-grandchildren; Brantley Ginn, Easton Ginn, Eli Merryman, Isaac Merryman, Millie Merryman, Gavin Bobbitt, Gabby Bobbitt, and Logan Bobbitt; two sisters, Marion Hays, and Carolyn Seachrist both of Gilmer, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Monday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Bobbitt, Jonathan Bobbitt, Gavin Bobbitt, Barry Burns, Bruce Gist and Drew Merryman.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for consideration of memorial gifts to the Flo & and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Suzi! I'm so sorry for your loss! You and your brother, along with all the other family, will certainly be in my prayers for some peace and comfort during the coming days and weeks. I didn't have the opportunity to know your Dad but he had to be a wonderful man to have raised such a great daughter and friend to me. Love you and I'm here if you need me.
