Jerry E. Carruth of Scotia passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul, Nebraska at the age of 86.

Born on December 19, 1939, in Scotia, Nebraska, Jerry Ernest Carruth was the son of Jim A. and Bernice E. (Maddox) Carruth. He was raised in the town he loved, where he received his education and graduated from Scotia High School in 1958.

Jerry was a proud member of the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. Following his military service, he embarked on a career with Caterpillar Nebraska Machinery and Road Builders. He dedicated many years to the company and retired as the parts manager.

On October 15, 1966, Jerry and Georgia (Piester) Walker were united in marriage at Scotia, Nebraska. Together, they built a life and a family, initially living in Phillips, Nebraska, for three decades before returning to Scotia in 2004 to enjoy their retirement years together.

Jerry was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying hunting and fishing and woodworking. His memberships included the Phillips Volunteer Fire Department and Phillips Lions Club.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Pam Burrows of Seward and Michelle and James Pedersen of Phillips; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Cathie Walker of Phillips; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Leroy Wells of Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Georgia; and a sister and brother-in-law, Delouris and Charles Beebe.

Jerry’s family extends their gratitude to the staff at Howard County Medical Center for the professional and loving care given to their Dad, Jerry.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will be held in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia, Nebraska. Military Honors will be presented at the graveside. A luncheon will be held at the Scotia Community Building following the committal service.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
