Jerry Paul Chase 86, of Belmont, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 6, 1939, in Switzerland County, Indiana, a son of the late Arnold and Blanche (Scott) Chase.

Jerry retired from I.B.E.W. Local 1393 and was a Heavy Equipment Operator for R&F Coal Company. He was an Honorary Member of the Bethesda Farmers and Sportsman Club. Over the years Jerry enjoyed camping and was known for loving to laugh, talking, and telling stories. After a stroke, his Aphasia made that impossible for over the last 11 years of his life. He enjoyed listening to country music, watching wrestling, and NASCAR. He was Methodist by faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Chase; three sisters, Norma Roberts, Barbara McCreary, and Corrine Keith.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bernice (Shultz-Roby) Chase, whom he married on September 6, 1975; two sisters, Peggy Sullivan and Brenda Peelman; one daughter, Tammy Dailey (Dan) of Celina, OH; three sons, Richard Rex Roby of Windham, OH, Rodney R. Roby (Rhonda) of Belmont, and Neil Chase of Sidney, OH; eight grandchildren, Kristin, Joshua, Jarrod, Amanda, Richard Jr, Brandin, Michael, and Trevor; eleven great grandchildren, Kaleah, Wyatt, Christopher, Kyle, Kasey, Kalin, Kalina, Joshua, Braden, Ember Joy, and Elias James; and two great great grandchildren, Millie and Isla.

Friends will be received Monday from 11 am to 1 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 322 N. Main St., Bethesda OH. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 pm in the funeral home with Reverend Thomas Detling officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Valley Hospice for the special care that was given.
