Jerry Walter Christian

Mr. Jerry Walter Christian, a resident of Newport, passed away on August 6, 2024, at the age of 82. Funeral services are scheduled to take place 10:00 am on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church of Lone Grove. The service will be officiated by Les Hacker and assisted by Rev. Royce McClendon. Following the service, interment will be held at Newport. Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson is overseeing the arrangements.

Jerry was born on February 25, 1942, in Deese, OK, to J.C. Christian and Alvis Rose (Kyle) Christian. He dedicated 38 years of his life to Sutherlands Well Service of Healdton after starting his career under Kenneth Miller on Dorothy Lacy's Ranch. His hard work and passion for the outdoors made a lasting impact in his field. Jerry pursued his education in various schools before graduating from Graham High School. He found joy in rural living, especially in hunting and caring for his animals, notably his beloved chickens.

On December 23, 1961, Jerry married the love of his life, Ann Stewart, bringing immense joy and strength to both their lives. He is survived by his devoted wife Ann; loving sons Jay Christian (Pam) and Clayton Christian (Leslie); caring grandchildren Corey Christian (Cassie), Brittany Miller (Kalub), Jaci Gray (Tyler), Bridgett Church (Mat); cherished great-grandchildren Colton, Callaway, Carlie, Kayden, Kowen, Camden, and Lenora; brothers Billy Chrisitan (Susan) and Nathan Christian (Shirley); sister Rosemary Higgins; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; brother Jay Eugene; sisters Carolyn Jay and Nancy; as well as a great-grandson Konner Miller.

The casket bearers for the service will be Jay Christian, Clayton Christian, Kirk Christian, Lynn Christian, Rickey Stewart, Danny Cox and Keith Morse. Honorary bearers include all his coworkers at Sutherlands Well Service and members of the Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church.
