Evelyn Faye (Robinson) McGee, 89, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26th at Lunn's. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27th at University United Methodist Church with Rev. Zack Landis officiating. Interment will follow at Red Top Cemetery in Young County under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
A daughter of the late Fannie (Nicholson) and E. M. Robinson, Evelyn was born on April 24, 1936, in Jack County-growing up in Young County, Texas. She graduated from Graham High School and attended one year of college after high school before health issues forced her to return home. She was a teacher at heart and returned to higher education when her children were school age. Evelyn received both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree from Midwestern State University in Education with designation as a reading specialist. She was a member of Kappa Delta -honor society for education. She taught for many years in the WFISD at Alamo Elementary and Fowler Elementary. She was active in the PTA organizations of her school and later was active with local and state retired teachers' organizations.
Evelyn's love and devotion for her family was evident though her actions and involvement in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Special occasions were always remembered with a card and precious words from her heart. Her grandchildren can tell you stories about things she did with them – ranging from bicycle riding to trying a rope swing at birthday party.
Evelyn's hobbies included sewing, gardening and baking. For a while, she actively baked cookies that she sold. One count she listed in some notes was 1,062 dozen -that's 12,744 delicious cookies plus the many dozens that were given away.
She was active and involved in her church (University United Methodist) serving on many committees over her decades of membership. Her latest ministry was the Church Outreach Care ministry- sending notes of encouragement and birthday cards to members.
Along with her parents, Evelyn was also preceded in death by her husband-Ernest Dean "Buddy" McGee, brother-Gordon Robinson, sister-Laurie Reger, sister- Trena Lindsey, and sister- Louise Klein.
She is survived by son- Jerry McGee and spouse Lisa, daughter- Nancy Pearce, four grandchildren- Jenna Yaggi and spouse Jerry, Matty Hyatt and husband Bryce, Erin Webb and spouse Philip and Cullen Pearce. Her survivors also include eight great grandchildren- Daniel Webb, Dean Davis, Cambri Hyatt, Carsyn Hyatt, Jordan Yaggi, Caleb Yaggi, Eli Yaggi and Mila Yaggi, brother- Danny Robinson and sister- Frances Jeffery.
