Jerry Cook, 76, of Grindstone City, passed away Saturday, July 19th, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born June 20, 1949, in Lexington, to Wesley & Bette Rae (Griffth) Cook. He graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School Class of 1967. He married Joann Csizmadia on July 26, 1969. He served in the US Army from 1969-1971 serving in Germany. After being discharged he returned to Croswell and he worked for Stead Auto Sales and then City of Croswell DPW where he worked until he retired in 2006. He was an avid hunter, and fisherman, often known as "The Legend" among many of his fellow fishermen. He was a longtime Member of Croswell American Legion Post #255 and a charter member of the Sanilac County Sportfishing & Hunting Association. They enjoyed many winters in Astor, Florida making many lasting friendships. He enjoyed fishing and taking friends on boat trips on the St Johns River.
Jerry and Joann would have celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on July 26th. Jerry was a quiet, kind and humble man who will be missed greatly by all of this family and friends.
He is survived by wife Joann, and sons, Steve (Sharon) & Denny (Cathy), brother Jim (Sue) Weller, sisters Jane McLane & Janice Danielson. grandchildren Becky (Ryan) Kocan & Claire (Adam) Cornwell. Brothers & Sisters in laws, Helen (Terry) Wilson, Rosemary Goodall, Judy Winiarski, Carol (Larry) Mitchell, Richard Csizmadia, Vicki (Rick) Wilson, David Csizmadia, Jimmy (Sue) Csizmadia, Linda (Dan) Pike & Don (Jodie) Csizmadia, and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry is predeceased by his Parents Wes & Bette Cook, In Laws, George & Helen Csizmadia, Brother-in-laws, George (Sonny), Michael, Grandson Matt Kocan, and Brother in laws, Willy Goodall, Brian Winiarski and Bob Danielson and 2 Nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be at the Croswell American Legion, 97 W Harrington Road, Croswell, MI from 1-4 pm on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Military Honors and dinner following.
Memorials in Memory of Jerry can be made to Residential Hospice, Tunnels to Towers Foundation (Benefits wounded and homeless veterans) and Sanilac County Veterans Trust Fund.
