Jerry Wade Cox, 84, of Wheeler, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026.

Born on September 15, 1941, in Wheeler, MS, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Roxie Cox and Wade Cox. From an early age he showed a spirit of adventure and creativity that would remain with him throughout his life.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. His service reflected the courage, dedication, and strong sense of duty that defined his character.

As a young man, Jerry was known for his musical talent and stage presence as a member of his teenage band, Jerry Cox and the Cavaliers. his love for the performing continued into adulthood where he appeared in the acting roles in the film Tora! Tora! Tora!, the television series Hawaii Five-O, and the children's show Checkers and Pogo. He carried a natural charisma that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Jerry also embraced life's adventures beyond the spotlight. He enjoyed scuba diving, skiing, and gardening- passions that reflected both his love for exploration and his appreciation for quiet beauty.

Above all, Jerry was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Cox; His daughters, Morgen Brooks and Erin Cowern; his sisters, Deborah Williams and Kay Keberdle; his grandchildren, Jasmin Lee, Allison Joiner, and Amber Brooks; and his great-granddaughter, Iris Mae Joiner. His family was his greatest pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roxie Cox and Wade Cox.

Jerry will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his creative talents, and his honorable military service, and his steadfast love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held on March 6, at 10:00 a.m. at Whittington Memorial Church, 5464 Hwy 567, Liberty, MS.
