Jerry Bernard Daniel Ph.D.

Memorial services for Dr. Jerry B. Daniel, Esq. of Rentz will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Dublin. Rev. Dr. Mario Webb will officiate.The family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 5-7 PM at St. Mark Baptist Church.
Dr. Daniel, who passed on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, was born on July 15, 1967 in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Louise and Jerry Daniel and grew up in Rentz and Dublin, Georgia. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined the church of his grandmother, Nunie Bell Daniel,which is Saint Mark Baptist Church. He graduated from West Laurens High School, and as a result of his love for learning, he continued his education while working full time as a correctional officer. He graduated from Middle Georgia College with his Associate of Science in Criminal Justice, Mercer University with his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Fort Valley State University with his Master of Science in Counseling Psychology, Clark Atlanta University with his Master of Social Work, University of Pittsburgh with his Master of Public Health and his Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work, and University of Georgia Law School with his Juris Doctor degree.
Dr. Daniel's passion for social work led him to Albany State University, where he inspired his students to "research the literature" and aim for excellence in all they aspire to accomplish. In addition to holding the position of MSW Program Director at Albany State University, as a licensed clinical social worker, he started First Choice Behavioral Health over 10 years ago to embrace healthy individuals, families and communities. In addition to being the recipient of several fellowship awards, Dr. Daniel's excellent research skills and outstanding practice in the field of social work afforded him the awesome opportunity to participate in the Fulbright Specialists project in Russia at Volga Region State University of Service. He was an advocate for helping those in his family and in his community, especially in the areas of legal issues and behavioral health. Outside of his work in the area of social work, he had a love for antique cars.
Dr. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Jerry Daniel; his dear brother, Gary Daniel; his beloved niece, Venezuela Alexis Coleman. He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Sha'Kristin Anyiah Williams, four sisters, Tina Watkins of Macon, Pamela Daniel of Rentz, Angel (Dexter) McSwain of Queen Creek, AZ, and Thessalonica Jones of Dudley, brother, Terry (Amanda) Daniel of Perry, sister-in-law, Alejandra (brother Gary) Daniel of Macon, and a host of special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted Albany State University colleagues and students.
