Jerry Davis Obituary
Jerry William Davis, loving husband, father, and grandpa passed away at his home surrounded by his family on July 12, 2024, at the age of 81. Jerry was born in Monticello, KY on May 27, 1943, to John William "Bill" Davis and Ollie (Carter) Davis. He grew up in a time when young men had to help support the family at a young age. A young girl by the name of Margie Upchurch caught his eye and they were married on July 20, 1963. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy, sharing in the upbringing of their children: Kim, Jerry Jr., and Tricia. Jerry found his calling as a HVAX service technician at Hader Roofing & Furnace, where his skills and dedication made him a valuable asset for 41 years.
Jerry had a passion for fixing things and took great pride in his work as a serviceman. He was known for his craftsmanship and enjoyed the challenges that his job presented. Beyond work, Jerry cherished his time outdoors, indulging in activities such as hunting, fishing, and sport shooting. He found solace in nature and took pleasure in riding quads, appreciating the freedom it provided. Jerry also enjoyed watching a good ball game.
Throughout his life, Jerry's family was his greatest joy and priority. His unconditional love and support nurtured his children, guiding them through life's challenges with strength and wisdom. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and love will forever endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jerry leaves a legacy of hard work and love with his devoted and loving wife of 61 years Margie Davis; children: Kim (Jim) Beyer, Jerry Jr. (Margy) Davis, and Tricia (Steve) Hickey; grandchildren: Jared Davis, Katie (Andy) Sauerland, Henry & Ava Hickey; great-grandchildren: Jameson, Payton, & Bentley; Siblings: June (John) Dishman & Billie Whitaker; Brothers-in-law & Sisters-in-law: Pauline Zigler, Clyde (Sherry) Upchurch, Lena (Doug) Stockett, Keith (Margaret) & Curtis Upchurch.
Preceded in death by his parents: Bill & Ollie Davis; siblings: Butch, Ray (Grace) Ralph (Pearl) Davis, Lilly (Shirley) Buck, Irene (Estil) Piercy, Bob (Shirley) Davis and Nina (Shirley) McGinnis; brother-in-law: Vernie Whitaker, Larry, Gale, Kay (Ruth) Upchurch, and Leacher (Russell) Carter.
Visitation will be at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 12 pm until the service at 2 pm. Burial to follow at Glen Haven Cemetery.
