Jerry Samuel Donehoo, age 83, of Austell passed away February 16, 2024.
Jerry was born to Samuel Donehoo and Codell Donehoo (neé Reed) in Atlanta, and spent his childhood in Roswell. After graduating from Roswell High School, Jerry went on to attend Rhinehart University, and then attended the University of West Georgia. Following his time in higher education, Jerry chose to serve his country in the United States Army, where he attended the Army Language School. He received training as an interrogator and interpreter specializing in Korean.
While stationed in Korea, Jerry met and married the love of his life, Soon Hui. The pair returned to the States to start their life together. Jerry held many different positions before becoming an electrician for Lockheed Martin, specializing in working on C-130s. His career at Lockheed spanned over 30 years and he retired from there in the early 2000s.
Jerry was a passionate musician and instilled the love of music in his children. He loved to sing, listen to and play Appalachian music, and make music with others. Jerry was a preacher and choir director, using his talents to glorify the Lord. His creative spirit also manifested in his wood working and he was able to make the most beautiful furniture and cabinetry.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Donehoo; and stillborn brother, Ralph Donehoo.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Soon Hui Donehoo; children, Esther Jones and spouse, Brian of Kennesaw, and Candice Pullom and spouse, Djamal of Lynnwood, WA; siblings, June Causey and spouse, Frank of Lawrenceville, David Donehoo and spouse, Terisa of Lincolnton, and Naomi Donehoo of Cumming; grandchildren, Morgan Pullom, Madison Jones, and Matthew Pullom; and many beloved extended family and friends.
