Jerry Draper Obituary

Jerry Lee Draper, 72, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 at his home, surrounded by loving family. Born on August 18, 1953 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Anna Kate (Leatherman) and Thomas Franklin Draper. Jerry graduated from Middletown High School, class of 1971. Jerry worked at Gladhill Tractor Mart as a career mechanic until his retirement after over 40 years of service. Jerry was a lifetime member of the South Mountain Rod & Gun Club, Smithsburg, MD. He was also a member of Sons of American Legion, Post 239, Cascade, MD. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed fixing various farm equipment. He is survived by his Sister, Fonda Gormer and husband, Jonathon, of Myersville, MD; Niece, Jennifer Gormer (Clay Waite) of Cascade, MD; Nephew, Joshua Gormer (Tracey) of Williamsburg, VA; Grand Nieces and Nephews, Emma and Patrick Waite, and Cameron and Darcy Gormer; Special Friend, Rhonda Green; and Aunt, Glenna Moser (Gary) of Hagerstown, MD. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 11 AM to 2 PM at the South Mountain Rod & Gun Club, 23523 Foxville Rd. Smithsburg, MD 21783. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740. Arrangements are entrusted to J.L.
