Jerry M. Fluty, age 77, of Kalamazoo, died on November 11, 2024. He was born on June 11, 1947, in Sedalia, Missouri, the son of John and Margaret (Struemph) Fluty. Jerry moved to the Kalamazoo area as a teenager. He served in the U.S. Army. Upon his discharge, he began his career at General Motors. After 32 years, he retired from the custodial department. For 30 years, he was involved in ministry with the New Apostolic Church. Jerry lived his life with deep Faith. On May 21, 2000, he married Dianne Sayre. Their families were blended, and Jerry was blessed with stepchildren he loved like his own. From an early age, Jerry could play guitar beautifully and enjoyed sharing his musical gifts. He liked to make others laugh and his Jim Carrey imitation was a family favorite.
His family includes his wife, Dianne Sayre-Fluty; his children, Timothy Fluty, Dawn (Jeff) Crenshaw, and Melisa Branham; his stepchildren, Stacy (Aaron) Lohroff and Christopher (Laura Bolen) Smith; his grandchildren: Matthew, Sydney, Ashley, CJ, Christal, Isaac, Todd and Layla; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Ron (Marjorie) Fluty, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, John, Jr. and Jim Fluty; his son, Ernie Fluty; his stepsons, Michael Smith and David Smith; and his grandson, Zachary Nappier.
Friends may visit with his family on Thursday, November 21st, from 5:00-7:00 PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 S 9th Street, Kalamazoo. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 22nd, at 2:00 PM, with an hour to gather prior, at New Apostolic Church, 3600 W Milham Avenue, Portage. Donations in memory of Jerry may be made to the New Apostolic Church.
