Water Valley - Jerry R. Goodwin, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Born on February 21, 1952, he was the beloved son of the late Lloyd and Mildred Goodwin. Known for his generous spirit and compassionate heart, Jerry was always ready to help others, often putting their needs before his own.
He found joy in the outdoors, especially through hunting, fishing, and mountain travels that inspired his cherished bear collection. On October 27, 2003, he married the love of his life, Betty, with whom he shared many wonderful years.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Betty Goodwin; two children, Thomas Goodwin of Indiana, and Heather Haley of Dorsey, Mississippi; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four brothers, Dale Goodwin of Tennessee, Berry Goodwin of Georgia, Bill Goodwin of Florida, and Richard Goodwin of Saltillo, Mississippi; and one sister, Elaine Driskell of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Paulette Goodwin.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring the life of Mr. Jerry will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Bro. David Hendrix officiating. Graveside services will follow at Eggville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Terry Jo Payne, Ryan Driskell, Jeff Smith, Brandon Haley, Chase Haley, and Jerry Allen.
