Jerry Hatch Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 3, 2025.
Jerry Lynn Hatch, 71, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in Lehi, Utah. Born on March 14, 1954, in Farmington, New Mexico, to Dalbert Lynn and Betty Hatch, he was a twin and the third of eight children. Jerry lived a life defined by faith, love, and an infectious sense of humor.
Jerry's smile could light up any room. Known for his unwavering positivity, he never complained despite facing significant medical challenges. His deep love for the Lord shone through in his frequent testimonies, inspiring all who knew him. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his faith never wavered.
In 1978, Jerry met the love of his life, Tammy Stallings, in a Salt Lake City singles ward. After a romantic proposal at the Salt Lake Temple, they were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 15, 1979. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership.
Jerry's family was his greatest joy. He cherished his wife, Tammy, ensuring she was always cared for, and delighted in spending time with his children-Michael (Leah), Brandon (Jinky), Lyndi Buehler (Justin), and Tyson (Lisa)-and his 12 grandchildren who called him "Gaga": Kaden, Levi, Easton, Mace, Claire, Evan, Peyton, Bella, Carter, Adelaide, Alex, and Ailee. Known as the "fun dad," Jerry welcomed his children's friends into their home, creating a hub of laughter and connection. He shared a special bond with his father- and mother-in-law, Sherril and Shirley Stallings, whom he dearly loved. Jerry is also survived by his siblings, Carolyn (Don), Debbie, Glenn (Cindy), April (Richard), and Neta.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Dalbert Lynn and Betty Hatch, and sisters Susan Hatch and Diana Bell.
A man of many passions, Jerry grew up hunting with his family and later with his boys. He treasured summer camping and fishing trips, cheering for BYU, reading books, listening to music, and dancing (he was known as "Dancing Matilda"). He loved weekly movie outings with his son Michael, playing softball, coaching his sons' sports teams, and cheering on his grandchildren in their extracurricular activities. His enthusiasm for life was contagious, leaving a lasting impact on his family and community.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mount Mahogany 8th Ward chapel, located at 1541 N 1300 W, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062.
