Jerry E. Holmes

Holmes, Jerry E. 11/29/1932 - 4/4/2023 Jackson Jerry E. Holmes, passed away, under the loving care of Elara Caring Hospice, and his family, on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in Jackson. He was a resident of Jackson, Michigan and Naples, Florida. Born in Detroit in 1932, he moved with his family, at the age of 14, to Leslie, where (within a month) he met Nondes Morea, the love of his life. He never dated another. They were married right after high school and started their family. Nondes' death in 2014 ended their 63 year marriage. They were founding members of Westminster Presbyterian Church where Jerry became an Ordained Elder. In later years, they were both active members of Lake San Marino Church in Naples. He worked at various jobs including management positions at an auto dealership and together they operated Holmes Store, for several years. When that experience ended, he returned to school and began working as an Auditor Trainee, for the Michigan Department of Treasury. He retired 29 years later as a Senior Auditor, training incoming CPA's in the fine art of auditing for state taxes. He is survived by three children, Jody (James) Hall, Michael (Candice) Holmes and Todd (Anita Rehm) Holmes; as well as five grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Altenberger, Justin (Kimberly) Holmes, Maegan (Josh Czolgocz) Gough, Ryan (Misty Jones) Holmes and Markie (Padraic) Timmons. Two step-grandchildren, Scott Hall and Jack Hall; and eleven great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Abigail Altenberger, Ashlin and Callie Holmes, Natalee, Nora, Nolan and Nixon Gough, Ava Czolgocz and Royal and Cormac Timmons. He is also survived by former daughter-in-law, Marilyn Magsig and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by two sisters, Janice (John) Dobbie and Patricia (Douglas) Lynch and two sisters-in-law, Karen Spawr and Kandes Kenney. Jerry loved his family unconditionally and was always available when needed. Cremation has been chosen and there will be no services.
