Jerry D. Hudson, 87, of Kalona, passed from this life on Saturday, December 7, 2024, surrounded by his family at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 6:30 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona with Pastor Michael Seward officiating. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Website, Facebook and YouTube pages. The family will greet friends from 3 – 6 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska. A memorial fund has been established for Pleasantview Home.
Jerry David Hudson was born April 27, 1937, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Kenneth and Eva (Cole) Hudson. He graduated from Roca High School in Roca, Nebraska, and the Wesleyan University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a degree in microbiology. On June 28, 1957, he was united in marriage to Fern Wixson in Lincoln, Nebraska. Jerry was employed by the State Hygienic Lab at the University of Iowa for 27 years. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Iowa City and enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. Jerry built several houses over the years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, he was truly a family man.
Survivors include his wife Fern of Kalona; two daughters: Debbie (Michael) Seward of Jerome, Idaho, Dawne Hudson of Kalona; seven grandchildren: Jenni (Blake) Hershberger, Summer (Matt) Sargent, Tony (Brittni) Kiefer, Sharelle Seward (Alfred Orelus), Nicki (Seth) Lenz, Shannon (Morgan) Seward, Shawne Seward; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson, and one brother Ronald (Judy) Hudson of Ft. Meyers, Florida.
Preceding Jerry in death were his parents and an infant son David.
