Jerry W. Hunt

Jerry Wayne Hunt, 81, of Kingsford Height, Indiana, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, departed this life on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Jerry was born May 29, 1943, in McClemoresville, Tennessee, to D.H. Hunt and Augusta (Hillsman) Hunt. On August 28, 1965, Jerry married the love of his life, Margaret (Buchanan), and they were blessed with two children.
He is survived by his loving family, who will forever cherish his memory. His son Bradford (Sherry) Hunt, and daughter, Krystal (Jeffrey) Simpson, both reside in Kingsford Heights, Indiana. Jerry was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren; Avery (Abbie) Simpson, Tyrelle Hunt, Kierstin Simpson, and Kieanna Simpson. He also had five great-grandchildren; Aiden Simpson, Zy'an Hunt, Zy'Riah Hunt, Zamiah Hunt, and Aven Simpson. Additionally, he leaves to cherish his memory; one uncle, Jimmie Bolton, a nephew, Tony Bigham, and a host of other nephews, nieces, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, O.D. Hunt and several other relatives.
Jerry graduated from Union Township High School in 1960 and then enlisted in the Air Force, where he served as a basic airman. Later, he studied data processing at PNC in Westville for two years.
Jerry loved his family and his community, He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and watching the Chicago Cubs.
He accepted Christ into his heart at an early age at the First Baptist Church of Kingsford Heights, Indiana. In his later years, he served Christ as a Deacon at the House of Praise Prophetic Church in La Porte, Indiana.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until funeral service time at 12:00 noon, with Pastor David Adams, officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, IN. Military honors will be rendered.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the House of Praise Prophetic Church, 6011 US 6 & 35 South, La Porte, IN 46350.
