Ronald Howard, age 77, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on November 14, 2025, at Northwest Health-La Porte. Born on February 1, 1948, in La Porte, he was the beloved son of the late Ellis Howard and Inez (Jacob) Howard.

Ron dedicated a significant portion of his life as a self-employed truck driver, a career that allowed him to experience the joys of travel. He later on became self-employed in tree service. Ron found beauty in nature and cherished landscaping—planting trees and flowers brought him immense satisfaction. A true hobbyist at heart, Ron had an extensive collection of tools which he took delight in using and sharing with others.

His loving and generous spirit extended to those around him. Ron was a person who loved everyone and made it his mission to ensure others felt welcome and valued. In his leisure time, he had a fondness for observing the weather and enjoyed watching shows like Forensic Files, old westerns, and spending time with animals, particularly his beloved dog, Zoey.

Ron proudly served his country as a member of the Army from 1965 to 1968, continuing a legacy of respect and duty throughout his life.

Ron is survived by his sisters Darlene "Dottie" (Rodger) Johnson, and Betty Howard-Swan: companion and care taker Sharon Cowser along with many nephews and nieces who will deeply miss his warmth and companionship.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Wayne Howard; sisters, Mary Ann Howard and Sharlene Howard, who, along with his parents, will be remembered fondly by all who knew them.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Haverstock Funeral Home Inc, located at 602 Maple Ave, La Porte, IN 46350. Visitation will be held on November 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery, Indiana, with burial occurring at 1:45 PM.

Ronald Howard's life was a testament to kindness, camaraderie, and the simple joys of nature, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who loved him.
