Jerry Wayne Johnson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, passed away on November 17, 2024, at the age of 74. Jerry was born on July 27, 1950, in the small town of Ranger, Texas. His life was a beautiful journey marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
Jerry proudly graduated from Gordon High School and Ranger Junior College, before furthering his education with a Bachelor's degree in Business from Stephen F. Austin University. His career as a business analyst was just the beginning of his remarkable contribution to the workforce, as he continued to serve his community by delivering packages for Lonestar Overnight after his well-deserved retirement.
Throughout his life, Jerry found joy in the simplest of pleasures. He cherished the time spent canoeing on tranquil waters and enjoyed engaging in spirited games of dominos with his loved ones. A passionate genealogist, Jerry had an insatiable curiosity about family history, which became a wonderful way for him to connect with his roots and share stories with those around him.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 33 years, Janelle Johnson, who was the light of his life and his steadfast partner through all of life’s adventures. He is also survived by step-daughters Wendy Carroll and husband Jamie, and Natalie Moore and husband Mike. His heart swelled with pride as he filled the role of grandpa to Heather Ashley Collins and her husband Josh. Jerry shared a special bond with his sisters: Benita Smiddy and husband Mike, Denise Skaggs, Phyllis "PJ" Edwards, and Teresa "TJ" Sharp. Jerry also held a special place in his heart for his loyal dog, Lola.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. Johnson and Imogene Johnson, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Jerry's life will be held on November 21, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas. Friends and family are invited to come together to share their fond memories and reflect on the profound impact Jerry had on so many lives.
