Jerry J Kapka

Jerry J. Kapka, of Yukon, Oklahoma, died December 1, 2022 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born October 25, 1939 in Oklahoma City, the son of Harlan and Ruth (Warlick) Kapka.
Jerry was raised from an early age in Britton, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of John Marshall High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon discharge, he returned to OKC where he worked for the City of OKC until retirement in 1999. During that time, he moved his family to Yukon, OK where he lived until the time of his death. After retirement, he became very active with Parkland Elementary and Independence Intermediate schools by assisting staff and children there in various roles such as "Helping Hands" and being a "Watchdog."
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Ruth; 2 sisters, Betty Brown and JoAnn Murphy; 2 brothers-in-law, Wilburn Ogburn and Ray Brown; 1 son, Jeffrey Kapka; 1 nephew, Kevin Murphy; and 1 granddaughter, Millie Thomason.
Survivors include his wife, Davonne (Ogburn) of the home; 2 sons, Michael (wife Karen), Jason (wife Tracy); daughter, Melody (husband Tim); 8 grandchildren, Samuel Kapka, Tyler Thomason, Hannah Thomason, Cooper Thomason, Allyssa Spencer (husband Steven), Alexis McCain, Brooke Heard, and Kendra Masteller; 3 great-grandchildren, Sage Spencer, Preston Heard, and Rowan Millard; son-in-law, Todd Thomason; 1 sister-in-law, Kitty Ogburn; 3 nieces, Nancy Nakayama (husband Yaz), Marsha Grimm (late husband Russ), Jane Davis (husband Rocky); 3 nephews, Carl Ogburn (wife Kara), Brenden Murphy, and Cullen Murphy; and his beloved dog, Annie.
The family would like to thank the Boster family, Sherri Clear, and Debbie James for being there with their love and compassion through the years. The family would also like to thank the staff at O.U. Medical Center ICU "2F" for the care during his final days.

Viewing will be Monday, 1-8pm, with family present from 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Paoli Cemetery, Paoli, Oklahoma.
