Jerry Lahay Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 30, 2025.
Jerry Lahay, 85, passed away on May 20, 2025. Born on September 9, 1939, to the late Lester and Marion (Rouse) Lahay, he was known for his generous spirit and warm hospitality. Jerry was always quick to open his door and lend a helping hand. He had a way of bringing people together and was often the life of the party. In 1962, Jerry married the love of his life, Donna Tousey, and together they had two children and enjoyed countless supper clubs together.

Jerry spent 30 years working in the scale business before becoming the proud owner of Creative Seating. A dedicated member of St. Joseph Parish in Oneida, he was deeply rooted in his faith and community. From 1963 to 1965, he served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Jerry enjoyed many winters in Florida with Donna and continued the tradition even after her passing in 2014. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Jerry is survived by his children, Dennis (Jessica) Lahay and Jean (Michael) McDermott; grandchildren, Erin McDermott and Ian McDermott; great-grandson, Easton Hanson; siblings, Bob (Judy) Lahay, Roger Lahay, and Susie Gagne; many more family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna; parents; and brothers, Tim Lahay and Don Lahay.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Parish, 145 St Joseph Dr, Hobart, with a Mass of Christian Burial and Military Honors to follow.
