Jerry D. McCaughtry, Sr., 83, of Ellport, passed away in his residence on Monday, May 20, 2024.
Born in Beaver Falls on August 28, 1940, Jerry was the son of the late Albert McCaughtry and the former Phyllis Thompson. He married Joylee MacDonald in 1987 and enjoyed thirty-six years together until she preceded him in death on July 18, 2023. Jerry retired from B&W and drove both school buses for Ellwood City Transit and tour buses for Zona Tours. He loved driving the kids every day. Jerry loved traveling across the country, showing college students and foreign exchange students the wonders of the United States when he drove for Zona Tours. A member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Jerry also volunteered with the Carpenter's Project for many years.
Jerry is survived by three sons, Jerry McCaughtry Jr. of South Carolina, Jay McCaughtry of Koppel and Jeff McCaughtry of State College; two step-sons, Michael Lucas of Ellport and Mark Lucas of Perry Township; six grandchildren, Rileigh, Jacob, Jessica, Michael, Joey and Josh; several great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Friday, May 24th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, May 25th from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 25th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Sean Brubaker of Calvin Presbyterian Church, celebrant.
Interment will take place in Locust Grove Cemetery.
