Jerry McCormick

Jerry McCormick, who was 88, passed away surrounded by family on November 1st, 2025 at his home in Denton, Texas. Jerry was born on July 16th, 1937, in Denton. He dedicated 34 years of his life to the Denton Fire Department, ultimately retiring as a respected Battalion Chief. His unwavering commitment to public service and his community is testaments to the kind of man he was.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jerry was a devoted member of Highland Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for an impressive 37 years. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with everyone he encountered.

Jerry married the love of his life, Linda, in 1957, and together they celebrated 68 wonderful years of marriage. Their enduring love and partnership were an inspiration to us all. Jerry's family remembers him as a man whose words carried weight and wisdom. His kindness and gentle spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an everlasting legacy.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Linda, his son and daughter-in-law Danny and Paige McCormick, daughter Jana Baker, son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Jamie McCormick, as well as 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His family has paid tribute to him, stating, "Jerry was always kind and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He didn't speak a lot, but when he spoke, people listened."

Jerry's funeral service will take place at 2:00pm this Friday, November 7, 2025 at Highland Baptist Church, 600 Thomas St., Denton. A visitation will be held from 1:00pm until the service starts. As we gather to honor his memory, let us hold onto the precious moments we shared with him and the values he instilled in us.
